From the heart of Terri Jaggers

With September's complete hectic and heart wrenching events, I enter Houston's favorite outdoor month of the year ... OCTOBER.   October is a "golfer's dream" and although, I really am NOT a golfer, I have actually attended a few golf tournaments/benefits and have swung a few clubs.  To my surprise ... I wasn't as HORRIBLE at hitting the ball as I was last November when I swung 16 times before even making CONTACT with the little dimpled dot.  That experience watching my husband and children literally roll on the grass with laughter taught me I was best to find another "favorite time of year sport".  With the weather in October and November the perfect outdoor time of year, it is time for TENNIS and HORSEBACK RIDING!  I will leave the golf to my sons and husband.

It seems that each month's appearances has a primary focus.  The summer months emphasized women's health and wellness issues which led to August and September's Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  October will compound with the focus of our state's foster care and adoption needs as well as focus on "Breast Cancer Awareness" month.  November is National Adoption Month and the kickoff to the "Fall In Love Again" campaign with Spaulding for Children.  Of course December is a HUGE month for children's issues and benefits.  Sprinkled among each month has been and will continue to be the efforts for the children of La Carpia, speaking engagements and community events.  These experiences are the things I hope will provide a legacy for Mrs. Texas United States 2005.

As I begin this new month, I cherish my friends and family more than ever for continuing to support my temporary job as Mrs. Texas United States.  The crown I wear and the title I have are temporary.  My lasting titles of Mrs. Patrick Jaggers, Mom and Daughter are the titles and roles that have grown to mean even more to me the past 5 months.

Until November...                  --Terri
