November is an exciting blend of honor and respect of Veteran’s Day and the excitement and blessings of “National Adoption Month”. As I write, I have already experienced the joys of half of the month, as well as the agony of the death of one of the dearest Veterans in my life, my father, Ronald Eugene Tidwell. My four favorite men, now all deceased were veterans of WWI, WWII and the Korean Wars. I have learned so much and so much of my life has been shaped by these wonderful men I called “Grandpa”, “Dad”, my father-in-law “Gerald”, and the beloved man who raised me as his own, my step-“Dad”. It was with great pleasure I enjoyed celebrations honoring the men THESE men considered their brothers.
National Adoption Month has brought on LOTS of work that has culminated in “forever families” for 49 special foster children in Montgomery and Harris Counties during the week of November 14-18. I have enjoyed assisting in whatever ways I could with these families, and especially enjoy coordinating celebrations in their honor! It is always amazing to me the generosity of communities in donating goods and services to projects such as this and I thank each and every one of you for your assistance in making “National Adoption Day” in Montgomery and Harris Counties the most special day possible for so many Texas children!
Finally, I am excited to be a part of Houston’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the “Super Feast”! I will be riding on the HEB 100th Anniversary float celebrating “Texas Pride”. My children will also be a part of the parade and will be walking characters alongside the float!
I have MANY things I am thankful for … my family, my friends, my home and my health are among those things I have been most reminded of this year.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all! --Terri
