| Getting a few pointers from Tiger! (APRIL FOOLS!) |
|
|
My golf game has improved so much thanks to Tiger Woods ... although I am not sure if our laughter is a sign of my "improvement" or the simple reality that no matter what ... I SUCK at golf! In either case, I hope YOU enjoyed laughter on April Fools Day!
April has been a BUSY, BUSY, BUSY month. The weather has been TERRIBLE and it seems most of my appearances have had to suffer in freezing rain with gusty winds. Nonetheless, April has been a productive month! USAP Queens and Princesses were a working part of raising over $100,000 for Boys & Girls County at their Spring (and I use the term loosely because it felt like WINTER) Festival. My job was to work the Big Board and the Live Auction. It was my first time to see our Teen US America Queen, Ashton Theiss in action and BOY AM I IMPRESSED! What a work horse! And so sweet!
April was also full of appearances to promote my platform of recruiting foster and adoptive families. I had the privilege of speaking at DePelchin Children's Center to their foster/adoptive parents. The people at DePelchin Children's Center have such a loving, compassionate and committed heart for children in foster care. I am proud to work with them this year.
Another highlight of the month was the filming of a commercial for "Quick Fit", an interval fitness program that I used to get into shape for the Mrs. Texas United States pageant (where I won the swimsuit competition). It looks like the commercial will run in a test market in Houston, then will expand to other large cities in Texas before going national. I will keep you posted as to the initial airing dates!
Well... May is going to be a very busy month as well. May is National Foster Care and Foster Parent Appreciation Month. Although I continuously make regular appearances and speaking engagements regarding my platform, I am sure that next month will be one of the busiest so far.
Take care and let's pray for SUNSHINE!
